Bhavnath Fair

On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, the Bhavnath Fair is taking place in Bhavnath Mahadev Temple in Junagarh city of Gujarat for five days. It is also dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Maha Shivaratri

The 27th of February is the celebration of Maha Shivaratri. This is a Hindu festival that celebrates Lord Shiva.

According to the legend, Parvati, the spouse of Shiva, prayed and meditated during that day in order to protect her husband from any danger during that moonless night. Since then, Maha Shivaratri is considered a good day for women to pray for good luck for their husbands and children. Single women can pray to find a husband as perfect as Shiva.

Uthralikavu Pooram

On the 25th of February we celebrate Uthralikavu Pooram, a temple festival in Kerala dedicated to Goddess Kali at the Sree Ruthira Mahakalikavu Temple. The procession of elephants with all their ornaments is one of the main attractions of the festival.

Chatrapathi Shivaji Jayanthi

The 19th of February is the celebration of the birthday of Chatrapathi Shivaji Jayanthi, an Indian worrior king from the 17th century. He remains a political icon in India, especially in the state of Maharashtra, and is often considered as a hero of the hindus with the emergence of the Indian independence movement.

Taj Mahotsav

18th of February is Taj Mahoslav, first day of a huge cultural event held in Tajmahal. 2014 theme is Paigham-e-mohabbat (Message of Love)
